GRAND CHALLENGES - Optimisation of drug design process
Optimisation of drug design process & analysis of drug effects by Dr Kang Li Optimisation techniques have shown a big potential in recent researches worldwide for structuring typical pharmaceutical development problems into a framework whereby some latest mathematical tools and techniques can be used to reach an optimal or sub-optimal solutions. The advantages will be to significantly shorten the tablet design process and to improve the quality of drug design. This is however an interdisciplinary research, requires a synergy of biological, physiochemical, and computational approaches. Moreover, high-performance computing makes possible the digital life or digital human modelling. Therefore, to incorporate the drug design with digital human modelling will be another big milestone. It is anticipated that control engineering can make significant contributions to this subject over the following topics: Development of new optimisation techniques, especially new intelligent computing methods for drug design. Modelling and control of drug production processApplication of Modelling and control techniques in assessing the effect of new drugs
